Dear Parish Coordinator of the Catechumenate,
As we approach the holy season of Lent, and in particular,
prepare to celebrate the Rite of Election with our catechumens,
and the Rite of Calling the Candidates to Continuing Conversion
with our candidates, let us reflect on these holy words from scripture:
Thus says the Lord:
All you who are thirsty, come to the water!
You who have no money, come, receive grain and eat;
come, without paying and without cost,
drink wine and milk!
Heed me, and you shall eat well,
you shall delight in rich fare.
Come to me heedfully,
listen, that you may have life....
Seek the Lord while he may be found,
call to him while he is near;
Let the scoundrel forsake his way,
and the wicked man his thoughts;
let him turn to the Lord for mercy;
to our God, who is generous in forgiving.
Isaiah 55: 1 - 3, 6 - 7
Let us pray,
Father of love and power;
it is your will to establish everything in Christ
and to draw us into his all-embracing love.
Guide our catechumens and candidates in the days and weeks ahead:
strengthen them in their vocation,
build them into the kingdom of your Son,
and seal them with the Spirit of your promise.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
